Secondment from CINVESTAV (MEX) to University of Valencia (ES)

The aim of the secondment made by Moises Perez Rojas was to determine the spatial expression pattern of genes involved in the cytokinin pathway. In these experiments, the pattern of expression of cytokinin genes was evaluated in commercial strawberry Fragaria ananassa Var. San Andreas plants. The plants were grown under greenhouse conditions, and samples at different developmental stages were taken (flowers before anthesis). The samples were processed following the ISH protocol used in Dr. Cristina Ferrándiz´s Laboratory at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. At the end of the experiment, it was possible to detect the expression pattern of two genes in the strawberry receptacle, which helps to better understand the role of cytokinins in the development of flowers and fruits.
