Secondment of Ruud de Maagd (WPR, Wageningen – NL) to USP (Piracicaba – BR) – July 14-August 15, 2023

Ruud stayed with PhD student Xiaowei Wang for one month in the lab of our host Prof. Adriana Pinheiro Martinelli at CENA-USP in Piracicaba. This secondment had two purposes. First, teaching a two-week graduate course (for credits) at USP entitled  CEN5795 – Special Topics in Plant Reproductive Development: “MOLECULAR MECHANISMS IN PLANT REPRODUCTIVE DEVELOPMENT: TRANSCRIPTION FACTORS AND GENOME EDITING”. Next, training and data anysis of some microscopy work on tomato ovaries and fruits of wild-type and ful2mutants. This aimed to unravel the mechanisms underlying the larger mutant pistil length and smaller mutant fruit size. This was done together with Adriana and her assistant Monica Lanzoni Rossi.
