Silvia Moschin, a researcher of the University of Padova is now spending four months at the research center CINVESTAV, Irapuato, Mex, hosted by the research group headed by Stefan De Folter. She is working on Ginkgo biloba ovules to detect the hormones involvement in the development process of the female reproductive structures of this gymnosperm. Even if this plant does not have flowers and proper fruits, Ginkgo has fleshy structures protecting the seed. This makes Ginkgo an important key species for understanding the evolution of fruits. Applying the most advanced molecular techniques Silvia will improve the knowledge about this hot topic and will gain new skills to bring back to Italy.
